I reached out to Howard Environmental about a possible mold issue not realizing they did not service the area I live in. The person I spoke with, William, was willing to take the time to look at photos I provided knowing I would not be a potential customer. Great follow up and quick to respond. He offered his expert opinion and followed up with a plan of action just in case. I would highly recommend Howard Environmental.

I contacted Howard on a whim and spoke to William — I must say, these guys are good natured, honest, and lead with expertise over making a quick buck when it is not necessary. I am pregnant, due in 4 months, and noticed some concern area on our limestone right where our nursery is about to be. William offered to educate me first, he calmed my alarm bells, and then took the time to look at pictures and assess. He relayed confidence opinion this was not a mold issue on the inside, and something to be treated via pressure wash. After doing further research too it does seem to be the case. Thank you William for your honesty and time! In this area of business I could see people being taken advantage of due to how urgent/serious this could be + lack of knowledge on what it is and what to do. However I feel safe with these guys and want to relay this is a good decision to get honest opinion.

They can't find my post, but they texted me multiples times after I left this review. Seems like within the last few days additional 1 star reviews have been left. I just want to reiterate: I was charged for two different sets of samples and I still have mold. They messaged me asking what went wrong.I wouldn’t recommend. There is too much opacity with this company. I still have mold after following all recommendations, protocols, procedures including doing two rounds of sampling and testing and scrubbing. It cost me over $4K they worked with Allnation who I also absolutely do not recommend.

I worked with Howard Environmental to remediate a mold issue in my rental home. William and Cary run the show and are always helpful and available. They know what they are doing, and make it easy to get the project off the ground and finished quickly. No one looks forward to working on a mold issue, but they make it as simple as possible and they do what they say they're going to do. I would definitely recommend.

I would 1000% recommend the entire Howard Environmental team to both friends and family! I called about a mold problem in our office and spoke with William who gave me the low-down on our options. He was very clear on the process, our inspection options, and next steps. William knows his stuff! From Texas law to types of molds to just being a well-spoken person. Landon came out to do the physical assessment and sample. He was also knowledgeable and was able to point out things we hadn't noticed as renters, like the discoloring of the wooden floor. As a woman, I felt comfortable having Landon as an inspector. We received out results within a few days and I called William for a translation. We spoke for 45 minutes – he clearly has a genuine goal of helping people.

These folks are amazing. William came and not only did thorough testing, he educated us on everything related to mold in your home and remediation. He also spotted a mold area in our kitchen immediately after arriving. He is such a plethora of knowledge. His advice on our issues helped us get our insurance company to help with remodeling costs for our kitchen and bathroom. We are forever grateful for this company and their incredibly educated staff. Will and his team have the kind of integrity that is hard to find in this industry, and many these days. He came to do a mold inspection for us October 2025 at the start of my pregnancy and he was so transparent, honest and beyond fair in his approach. He didn’t try to sell us tests we didn’t need - in fact, he basically said no mold seemed present despite a smell that was coming from water buildup underneath our tub and he charged us half of his in-home visit fee.I was just blown away by how much he cares about doing the right thing and I can’t recommend his team enough!Thank you Will and sorry for the delay with my review! While we did not decide to go through with this company due to our urgent situation needing a next day appointment, Howard Environmental was extremely nice and listened to my concerns and provided great information and was very flexible and understanding when we had to cancel our appointment (that they were able to squeeze us in for 2 days out which was awesome!) and find sooner availability. Cary from Howard Environmental was extremely nice and knowledgeable! He offered to listen to my concerns about a mold remediation that was done and provided his opinion free of charge! Even when I tried to offer him money for his time, he simply said that he was happy to help and that I don't need to pay him. I have had the opportunity to work with William on 2 different occasions and both times he was nothing short of outstanding. William guides you on what needs to be done and what doesn't need to be done i.e. there is 0 upselling. While William guided me on the house inspection, Cary helped me better understand the report. I have researched a lot of mold inspectors and it's my humble opinion that Howard environmental is the best mold inspection company in Austin, Texas and quite possibly the best mold inspection company in the state of Texas.

We sent our mold test results from another company to William at Howard Environmental for a second opinion. The company that did our mold testing advised that based on the results we needed to move out immediately due to the type and level of the mold, and of course they offered their expensive remediation and litigation support services. William gave us a detailed and thorough analysis of our lab results which indicated that we had nothing more than ordinary levels and types of mold in our house. He even had his partner give us a third opinion verifying the same. Needless to say we are not having to move out or engage in any expensive remediations or lawsuits. So grateful for the team at Howard Environmental for their expertise, honesty, integrity and concern. Highly recommend this professional, experienced team who empathize greatly with people facing the unknown health and financial threats when it comes to mold. You really need someone like them you can trust. This second (and third) opinion saved us from a disastrous situation for our family.

Choosing a mold consultant is always a difficult process. You never know if you're going to get someone who is just trying to scare you into overpaying. Howard Environmental on the other hand gave us in-depth, factual information every step of the way. William was a mold remediation consultant who started doing inspections after seeing first hand how others were just screwing people over. He was extremely helpful every step of the way and I highly recommend Howard Environmental if you're concerned about mold.

William from Howard Environmental is the best mold inspector you will find! I have used several mold inspectors in the past and none of them come close to how good he is.I was trying to buy a 6 year old home in the Austin Area and I wanted a good mold inspector because I have had issues in the past. I searched all kinds of Reddit forms and everywhere trying to find the best and most recommended mold inspector. His name appeared the most during my research so I went with him.I called to schedule an appointment and he was booked out extremely far (because he is the best). I explained to him that I was on a time constraint due to my option period ending and he offered make room for me on his schedule and he scheduled me for the following evening. He showed up at the home around 5:30pm and stayed until almost 8:45pm. He spent hours in my home searching inch by inch from the floor to ceiling in every room. Checking not only visually but also with a moisture meter and some other fancy tools. He was able to find so many things that the home inspectors did not find. There were several windows that were not properly sealed allowing water ingress. He also found the toilet wax seal was leaking causing water to be trapped underneath the tile in the bathroom, he ended up taking an air sample of the wall behind the toilet and it came back with very high levels of mold. He also found a stove top ventilation issue in the kitchen cabinet which was causing mold growth, he took an air sample in the cabinet and it came back positive for high levels of mold. He also climbed into the attic to look around to make sure there were no mold growth issues up there, he found a lot of mold was growing in the AC system. He took pictures and documented everything. He took the air samples to a lab and had the results back to me in less then 24 hours!I am so glad I chose him because if I didn’t I would have purchased a home that not only had an active hidden water leak, but also a severe mold problem. All of these issues he found were missed by the general home inspection I had the day before.My realtor who unlocked the home for him to do the inspection stayed and watched him do the inspection. She was shocked at how detailed and thorough he was. She said that he was the most thorough mold inspector she has ever seen and took his information down to use in the future.If you want a mold inspector that actually knows what he is doing, this is your guy. If you want a mold inspector who actually cares about you, this is your guy. If you want a mold inspector that will search every inch of your home to make sure that any and all mold is found this is your guy.

William was AMAZING! He was very knowledgeable on the mold issue and explained the situation and process to me very well. He also helped detect another problem in our home concerning our HVAC system. William even helped me start my jeep! (Which he wasn’t even here for, that was not his job here today lol) Either way he was very kind, even gave some love to my pups, and I appreciated his help with everything very much! After our AC broke last summer, our rental company took over three months to replace it. During that time, the house became extremely humid, and ever since, I’ve been concerned about mold. When the unit was finally replaced, I actually saw visible mold inside the old system.Fast forward to this spring in Austin, with all the rain, I started experiencing daily headaches, a dry cough, and constant fatigue. I work from home, so I spend 95% of my time indoors, and it started to feel like something in the environment was off.After calling a few mold companies, we were lucky we found William. From our very first phone call, he stood out. He generously shared his knowledge, patiently answered all of my questions, and took the time to educate me, even before stepping foot in the house.When William came to inspect, he was thorough, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable. He found active mold growth in three different areas, both bathrooms and underneath the kitchen sink. He tested each one and walked me through everything in clear, simple terms: the types of mold, how they grow, and how to prevent future issues. I didn’t end up having to using Howard’s Service in my unique situation, but I would recommend him to anyone I know and will use his services if I find myself in the situation again. Best thing I could have done was to get William to do a mold inspection for me. It not only helped me out physically but he was very informative and genuine with his approach! William was amazing. As a college student who was getting neglected by my apartment complex, I was unsure of what to do when I found mold in my room but William helped us out a ton. He spent 30 minutes on the phone with us before we even booked an inspection, to explain the steps we should take and the different kinds of mold that exists. He then was able to schedule us the next morning at 7:30am, before their regular hours. He showed up on time and did a very thorough inspection. I contacted Howard Environmental to get a lead paint inspection. During my phone conversation with the owner, I learned that the company does not do lead paint inspections. However in the conversation I learned which agency probably licenses lead inspectors in Texas. The owner was very friendly and informative. He even answered some of my questions about asbestos and popcorn ceilings. Following the conversation I was able to locate 4 lead inspectors in Austin.

This was following being charged over $25,000.00 by the plumbing company for repairs up to that point.It was suggested to me by the owner of the plumbing company that I choose to dry the floors and sheetrock as opposed to a tear out.The remediation company called this damage a "level three" because toilet water carries bacteria that a sink leak does not. I wanted the home restored to the condition it was in before the damage occurred, especially because I have a family member who takes a medication that leaves him immuno compromised.William arrived at my address after the tear out and the removal of fans and dehumidifiers. He listened to my concerns about contaminants and mold possibly being present. I did not want the new walls and floors installed until I knew it was safe to do so.I needed a person to trust. William heard what I said and proceeded to test every area of my concern. He explained the science, the process and when and how I would receive my results.And I did!! I am quite thankful that we had William Rivers from Howard Environmental support us during an exhaustive and time consuming mold issue. He was actually the second consultant I had reached out to because the first gave me so little information and a remediation plan that basically tore the whole house apart. William was able to be more investigative during the inspection process and precise with his remediation plan which saved us unnecessary expenses. Each Laboratory Sample costs $100 and is analyzed by a third-party lab, with results delivered the next business day.
