I have had the opportunity to work with William on 2 different occasions and both times he was nothing short of outstanding. We sent our mold test results from another company to William at Howard Environmental for a second opinion. The company that did our mold testing advised that based on the results we needed to move out immediately due to the type and level of the mold, and of course they offered their expensive remediation and litigation support services. William gave us a detailed and thorough analysis of our lab results which indicated that we had nothing more than ordinary levels and types of mold in our house. He even had his partner give us a third opinion verifying the same. Needless to say we are not having to move out or engage in any expensive remediations or lawsuits. So grateful for the team at Howard Environmental for their expertise, honesty, integrity and concern. Highly recommend this professional, experienced team who empathize greatly with people facing the unknown health and financial threats when it comes to mold. You really need someone like them you can trust. This second (and third) opinion saved us from a disastrous situation for our family.

Choosing a mold consultant is always a difficult process. You never know if you're going to get someone who is just trying to scare you into overpaying. Howard Environmental on the other hand gave us in-depth, factual information every step of the way. William was a mold remediation consultant who started doing inspections after seeing first hand how others were just screwing people over. I have used several mold inspectors in the past and none of them come close to how good he is.I was trying to buy a 6 year old home in the Austin Area and I wanted a good mold inspector because I have had issues in the past. I searched all kinds of Reddit forms and everywhere trying to find the best and most recommended mold inspector. His name appeared the most during my research so I went with him.I called to schedule an appointment and he was booked out extremely far (because he is the best). I explained to him that I was on a time constraint due to my option period ending and he offered make room for me on his schedule and he scheduled me for the following evening. He showed up at the home around 5:30pm and stayed until almost 8:45pm. He spent hours in my home searching inch by inch from the floor to ceiling in every room. Checking not only visually but also with a moisture meter and some other fancy tools. He was able to find so many things that the home inspectors did not find. There were several windows that were not properly sealed allowing water ingress. He also found the toilet wax seal was leaking causing water to be trapped underneath the tile in the bathroom, he ended up taking an air sample of the wall behind the toilet and it came back with very high levels of mold. He also found a stove top ventilation issue in the kitchen cabinet which was causing mold growth, he took an air sample in the cabinet and it came back positive for high levels of mold. He also climbed into the attic to look around to make sure there were no mold growth issues up there, he found a lot of mold was growing in the AC system. He took pictures and documented everything. He took the air samples to a lab and had the results back to me in less then 24 hours!I am so glad I chose him because if I didn’t I would have purchased a home that not only had an active hidden water leak, but also a severe mold problem. All of these issues he found were missed by the general home inspection I had the day before.My realtor who unlocked the home for him to do the inspection stayed and watched him do the inspection. She was shocked at how detailed and thorough he was. She said that he was the most thorough mold inspector she has ever seen and took his information down to use in the future.If you want a mold inspector that actually knows what he is doing, this is your guy. If you want a mold inspector who actually cares about you, this is your guy. If you want a mold inspector that will search every inch of your home to make sure that any and all mold is found this is your guy.

After our AC broke last summer, our rental company took over three months to replace it. During that time, the house became extremely humid, and ever since, I’ve been concerned about mold. I contacted Howard Environmental to get a lead paint inspection. During my phone conversation with the owner, I learned that the company does not do lead paint inspections. However in the conversation I learned which agency probably licenses lead inspectors in Texas. The owner was very friendly and informative. He even answered some of my questions about asbestos and popcorn ceilings. Following the conversation I was able to locate 4 lead inspectors in Austin.

William came to my property after a plumbing company overflowed a toilet while testing a repair. This was following being charged over $25,000.00 by the plumbing company for repairs up to that point.It was suggested to me by the owner of the plumbing company that I choose to dry the floors and sheetrock as opposed to a tear out.The remediation company called this damage a "level three" because toilet water carries bacteria that a sink leak does not. I wanted the home restored to the condition it was in before the damage occurred, especially because I have a family member who takes a medication that leaves him immuno compromised.William arrived at my address after the tear out and the removal of fans and dehumidifiers. He listened to my concerns about contaminants and mold possibly being present. I did not want the new walls and floors installed until I knew it was safe to do so.I needed a person to trust. Will is fantastic! Not only is he knowledgeable, but he also takes the time to break down every detail and listen to your worries. Like many people, I think there’s always the worry that someone will come into your home and give you false information to make a small job MUCH larger than it actually is. With Will, this is not a worry! Not only are his prices incredibly affordable, but with his previous (12 years) experience in water damage, he has incredible knowledge and gives you the complete picture of what is happening in your home. I am quite thankful that we had William Rivers from Howard Environmental support us during an exhaustive and time consuming mold issue. He was actually the second consultant I had reached out to because the first gave me so little information and a remediation plan that basically tore the whole house apart. William was able to be more investigative during the inspection process and precise with his remediation plan which saved us unnecessary expenses. During the process of trying to figure out where the moisture was coming from, he was essential in the discovery and subsequent cleaning and repair. I was so appreciative that he was available for my many questions and consultations, he is truly an expert! I will always recommend William and Howard Environmental for excellent work and support through the insurance process, and remediation.

William Rivers with Howard Environmental is a topnotch professional! We needed timely and thorough work done regarding recently discovered water damage and the potential for mold. Rivers scheduled us promptly, inspected the affected areas, and carried out testing. He communicated well without being condescending, eagerly shared his professional opinion, and performed good consumer education. We later had him do follow up clearance testing after the water mitigation and mold remediation work. Rivers has got the science down, and he provides excellent customer service. With the help of Howard Environmental, I was able to figure out if I have mold and how harmful it might be. Mr. Rivers service was professional and friendly. Didn't take long based off the level of help i needed. Showed up on time. Was able to inform me of other physical damage happening to my apartment that I hadn't noticed. Step-by-Step Mold Assessment

We study water behavior and building physics, then translate our findings into actionable next steps. First, we identify damp materials using calibrated meters, confirm patterns with thermal imaging when temperature differences reveal hidden issues, and observe airflow at vents, doors, and chases.

Next, we review past leaks, roof and plumbing repairs, irrigation overspray, grading, and slab wicking. We also examine insulation coverage, soffit and ridge ventilation, and any areas where warm, humid air could meet a cool surface and reach its dew point.

If we collect air or surface samples, they are analyzed at an accredited lab, and we provide clear explanations of the results. When a written scope is needed for a contractor, we deliver one that identifies sources, outlines containment and removal steps, and establishes pass criteria.
